I mostly blog about my research or things I've learned & observed about the writing process. I love my people & my work is inspired by themes & events in Haudenosaunee history. Spirit & Intent is an illustrated collection of short stories and other writings exploring the importance of peace, the rights and responsibilities of Indigenous women, Treaties and reflections on the responsibilities that accompany treaty rights, as well as the importance of decolonization in healing and reconciliation.
Drawing inspiration from research, stories, teachings and life experiences, Spirit & Intent takes an honest and creative approach in considering the important relationship questions facing our families and communities today.

I am so, so, so excited to finally be able to share this book with you. This story has been in my mind for the last five years. Almost every year since these characters first made themselves known to me, I’ve written this story in a different way, each time growing closer and closer to the way it was unfolding in my imagination. There have been twists and surprises all along the way.
This is a story with many characters, a story spanning many worlds and an adventure that connects to a teaching I learned from a story I was once told about the nature of Treaties and the treaty relationship.
ABOUT THE BOOK
Maple and her sister Eva have had enough heartache to last a lifetime. But when a kid at school bullies Eva, she takes drastic measures and signs a magical contract with a powerful witch who promises her a lifetime of freedom from pain.
Little does she know, she will be giving up everything she loves. Her friends. Her family. Even her memories.
Horrified by the witch's duplicity, Maple sets out on a mission to free her sister. Aided by a shape shifting dog named Oakley, Maple's journey brings her into contact with Tricksters, Wizards, Stone Giants and Whirlwinds.
But with every step she takes—time is running out. Can Maple save her sister before it's too late? Or will Eva be lost forever?
